Okay. I have had following crate engine for about 2 years

http://www.crateenginedepot.com/store/Circle-Track-Crate-Engine-350350-19258602-P819C143.aspx?UserID=16913373&SessionID=qnPMaOOL7ZlkYY9oyhpi

Has always been ticky. Adjusted valves today with car running by loosening until hearing tick and then tightening plus half turn. Drove car about 3 miles all good just Before getting home started ticking loud. Took cover back off and one pushrod was very loose but it will not adjust at all. Bad lifter/broke pushrod/ cam? What do you think

Thanks for the help

Yep,sounds like a bad lifter to me,I'm assuming when you adjusted it running the pushrod had full movement as compared to the others? That would tend to indicate if the cam lobe was Ok or not, Pull the rushrod and if it looks OK you're gonna have to pull the intake so you can get to the lifter, hopefully that's all that's wrong is you have a collapsed lifter and not a worn down lobe on your cam,Good Luck,KillerDave

"These engines are sealed at the intake manifold, cylinder head, front cover, and oil pan with special twist off bolt heads"

I don't know if this is common practice for crate engines, but it doesn't sound to good to me.

It's sealed because it's a race crate so it passes inspection. What's best way to make sure studs not pulling out. I won't be able to touch it until wednesday

measure it with a caliper and/or

check it against the stud next to it

Took little better look at it, does look like that whole rocker arm is a little higher then the rear. guessing it pulled out a bit....

On my SBF, I had the same problem.. The motor was nicely built by a pro, but sat for a while. When fired, the cam lube was gone and the cam smoothed itself out. No lift on some cyls. Complete rebuild, to get the metal outta everywhere.
