Be sure that the seal is installed the correct way. The lip must be faceing to the front of the motor. Would not be the first time some one installed one backwards. I know a guy that pulled a ford motor out three times for a oil leak. Finally asked how I installed them and said the lip to the front. Problem solved on that one. IF it was a 400 block and was line honed then a special seal is needed because the rear lip is cut flush with the main caps. Hope this helps.
