Re: NEED HELP!! HAVING MAJOR ISSUES WITH TIRE RUB.

On my 1983 wagon, I had 235/60/15 tires on split-lip steel Z28 wheels, and they rubbed in the same place, though not quite as bad. I bent the corner of the fender up and then was fine. I do believe the track width has changed with the spindle change; you may need more backspacing or a slightly shorter tire. A friend's 1986 Caballero has 215/65/15 on aluminum MCSS wheels, and they do not rub.

Re: NEED HELP!! HAVING MAJOR ISSUES WITH TIRE RUB.

Need help with some math.

16x7 with 4" BS and 235/55/16 - rub

do you think 16x8 with 5" BS and the same tire would work better?

Thank you.

Re: NEED HELP!! HAVING MAJOR ISSUES WITH TIRE RUB (UPDATE 9/

You need a larger or more backspace that suspension upgrade put you 1/2" to 3/4" out further on each side, they are hotchkiss upper & globalwest lower, moog 1" lowered big block springs, when you switched from 4" to 3 1/2" backspace you moved the wheel OUT 1/2" more, you need at least a 4 1/2 " backspace or offset or even 5" would probably be better
I have a 1980 Grandam which is real similar to a malibu,I have 18x9 Irocs with 5" backspace with 255x40x18 tires no rub at all(stock suspension though) but I have room to put at least a 1/2" spacer if I want
If you buy Iroc wheels for a gbody in 8" wide they only come in 4 1/2" backspace ,9" wide is 5" backspace for a gbody
O:)
