Re: NEED HELP!! HAVING MAJOR ISSUES WITH TIRE RUB.

Hmmm, looks like they're on there right to me,have you contacted Global West to ask they're opinion? Can you get a pic of the front wheel with the car on the ground and you standing straight back from the front wheel about 10 or 15 feet with the wheels straight so we can see how the wheel is sitting in the wheel well? Are those rub pics done with all the car weight on the ground? And is the front wheel alignment correct? Just asking as the front wheel/tire looks kinda funny/odd in your full/most of the car pic,I do like the look you're going for as well I have thought of Bart's or Aero's for my daily driver 78 but havn't decided yet,let us know!!

why impala, caprice spindles? bigger brakes? if your upper and lower control arms are for g-body. that would be the first suspect for me

Re: NEED HELP!! HAVING MAJOR ISSUES WITH TIRE RUB.

Both wheels are rubbing. The first picture is of the drivers side, the second and third are of the passenger side.

I don't know what those control arms are for, but I assume for the G body. I will look for the part numbers.

Wheel allignment was just done and is correct.

Staring at my own pictures, I think I will try to get more of a low profile tire on my 15x8 rim, maybe 235x50x15, or 235x55x15. I think it might be the easiest solution.

If you have the bigger brake swap you need the upper control arms for the taller spindles.

But will that fix your problem, I don't know.

Turna, the brakes work fine. I think I need a lower profile tire.

Re: NEED HELP!! HAVING MAJOR ISSUES WITH TIRE RUB.

according to the online tire height calculator I'm looking at your 235/60/15's are 26.1" tall
I'm running 245/40/18's at 25.7" tall on a 18x8 wheel with 4.75" backspace and the same brake setup
the tires clear the metal parts of the fender fine...I did have to trim my front spoiler and the black plastic splash shield slightly

fwiw it says a 225/60/15 is 25.6" tall but every manufacturer uses a different way to measure them...you should check to see what the maker lists as height for your tires

I just realized you went from 4"bs to 3.5"......you should be using a 4.5" to 5" backspace with an 8" wide wheel and the b-body brake swap. It's not that your wheels are too far forward, it's that with the backspacing your tires are farther from the turning (ball joint) rotation point of the spindle.....which will make them swing farther to the front and rear in relation to the body....I think I confused myself #-o I know what I'm trying to say...I hope it came out understandable

Re: NEED HELP!! HAVING MAJOR ISSUES WITH TIRE RUB.

By George I think RatMalibu is on to something! That would make sense as I believe the brake conversion makes the track wider, meaning the wheel flange is further away from the centerline of the car, more backspace will move the tire away from the fender, back closer to the center,to much though and you'll be into the frame!
