I Put a 9" in mine simply because i couldn't find a 12bolt around here at the time and i wasn't aware of the 8.5 which i have even yet to see anywhere around here. I googled up the g-bod 9" conversion see what the factory widths were and got myself an early bronco and we fabricated everything to make it work

the change out is great i have done it twice its so quick and major bonus for the track pot vs street pot

I'm appreciating the info. I am leaning toward the 9 due to the changability factor, such as the carrier. Nothing like changing gears on the fly. I could borrow a friends carrier with a different gear to try out. On a side note on those housings, what axles fit in them? I could just buy the housing and slide some broken stock axles in to roll it around while building the chassis.

I don't know the sizes off hand, but I'm pretty sure that stock axles won't fit the 9" housing, both in length & bearing size.
