He never let the clutch out. Apparently he does this with his car often. The only thing I heard that made me cringe was the synchros and the whine they made when they spooled up. I thought I had a turbo under the hood for a minute.

On another note, I am going to drive the car everyday this week. Beautiful weather. Only problem I am having is tuning and brakes.
As far as the transmission is concerned, its still fantastic. It glides into every gear with ease. The hydraulic clutch is smoooooooth. The McLeod Street Twin clutch is no problem.
Engine, well it needs carb tuning help. I am weak there. Ill start another thread about that later in the right place.

And one last thing. I have been talking about doing a good burnout for years. I have yet to produce. I will, I promise.

What shifter is on this tko?
I bought a tko500 for my datsun project, and am so excited about it.
I have heard some TKO owners describe the shifts as "notchy"
This maybe due to the wrong brake-in fluid.

I also heard alot of guys going from 2nd to first (instead of third) with real short shifters.
Steeda makes a shifter with a spring to help find third.
have you experienced this?

Im sure in the malibu, you have a decent lenght shifter arm, and dont have this problem.

The TKO I have now doesn't shift like the Muncie I had But it has less than 100 miles on it the Muncie had been in My car for the last 5 or 6 years. I went to the track last night for some shake down passes and tore a clutch and/or throwout bearing out. Did manage a 7.18 @ 99MPH in the 1/8 with a 1.62 60FT with full exhaust and with tail pipes.

The shifter for the Malibu has an offset, about 3". Its all custom done by Keisler. I use thier shifter as well. The shifter from Keisler has springs to help keep it center located. Initially I had problems with the 2 - 3 shift , but TREMEC sent some new parts to repair it. I am pretty sure its all covered in this thread somehwere.
I do remember that when the transmission wwas new it was very tight and notchy feeling... but once it gets broke in it sure does get smooth.
I love the transmission.

Been driving regularly and it still feels really good. I have been going through this thread and putting pics back in where they had been chopped out by my old provider.
Ill have to break out an old hard drive to find some of the ones I dont have on my new computer, but Ill get everything back the way it was.

Hard to believe I started fiasco 4 years ago. The transmission still feels as tight(almost) as the day I bought it. Its also amazing how little patience I had only 4 years ago.

I just read through this entire thread. Well, for probably the 10th time. What a rocky road you have been over. Way to pull through. I am finally done being back and forth with mine. I have started assembling my 427. It is time to drive the car. It's only been sitting for three years or better. I am running the same trans and rear end. I am thinking of running a 3.50 gear for hiway. Are you happy with the 3.89s? I think I am going to run a set of bb3 headers also. I am going with the Mcleod hydraulic throw out setup. I didn't catch why you had them build the new driver side header? Congrats on getting it dialed in. Chris

Oh yea, how are those 275 60 15 bfgs holding up?

This thread is crazy. I was impatient and some of my posts are over the top. Keisler is still taking care of me. I had called and asked a question about the drive shaft and its placement inside the trans and got the answer I needed, but on top of that they were willing to build me a new one ( I had asked about it) for cost due to some of the trouble I had.
The 3.89s are almost perfect. I think a 3.50 or a 3.70ish would be better with the torque I am making. When I sprayed the car I was out of the powerband going through the traps. I think my motor is done by around 5500.
If you run the BB3 setup be sure to have Sanderson custom make the driver header, the fit is SO MUCH NICER. Its an easy adjustment. If you leave it stock it dumps out right at the oil pan behind the filter. I had them make it dump more straight down, made things easier. I can post pics.

BFGs... its a good tire. But they are tore up. I still have yet to do a nice burnout and post it. I will. I am just being lazy.

From what I've read from other people as well Keisler always tries to do good on customer service. They now have a clutchless 'dogbox' T-56 (1,000hp claim) they can build, but to keep the price down you would provide the core. I'm thinking about starting with a stock T-56 and saving up for the conversion.
