rear sway bar install problem

Went to install rear bar and it is a little to wide,I bought it used..It looks like it would fit but I cant squeeze it in,need about .25 inch narrower, if left unmounted for long period of time do they spring out ? or is there a secret to this im not seeing? its a gm unit..

Figures, Ihave bought to many parts for a Malibu that dont fit a Malibu, for now on ill buy new..

perhaps if you post some measurements, someone can validate your measurements.

I have 4-5 of these bars and as I recall some were tighter than others.measure how wide it is and I will see how wide mine are when I get to work .

thanks for the input guys,ordered a umi bar,will be here friday, I get frustrated when I buy used parts and they dont fit because I cant sell these extra parts knowing they dont fit a Malibu..

if it's a bit to wide,could it be for an older malibu?aren't those a-body rear ends a little bit wider?

Received my new UMI bar yesterday and install went smoothly, even in 105 degree heat !
