loaded question but i'll give a few basic answers. Wider lsa is better for blowers or nitrous or really big cube motors. Gives a broader powerband. Tighter lsa is better for smaller peaky naturally aspirated motors. Gives a narrower powerband. From my experience a tighter lsa will sound raunchier and may help to run pump gas on a too high CR engine. 110 LSA is generally considered middle of the road and will work good on just about anything.

David Vizard has some interesting things to say on the subject. I don't have my book handy but if memory serves, 350s like a 108* and 400s like a 106* . I really don't remember why but it stuck in my head.
