Trans Am rear disc brake, is it worth changing over to them

I stumbled on a 80 or 81 Trans Am with factory rear disc brakes, the calipers are frozen. But was thinking about using the brakets. I can get new calipers, but was wondering if it was even worth changing over to disc. And what kind of problems will I run into. I have already switched to manual brakes. Will I need the propotioning valve from the Trans Am? Do anybody know?
Thanks for any help.

for my money I went with the LS1 rear disk setup. Seemed to be larger and easier to setup than the earlier setups like you mention

the LS1 setup, where did u get? Or what did u take it off of?

98 to 02 F-body. May require a 16in rim to clear.

I have 15" wheels on my car and they work fine. LS1 front brakes will need 16"+ wheels to clear. My setup has the LS1 Rear brakes and the 98+ Blazer brakes on the front so I can keep my stock 15" wheels.

was wondering that and if they would bolt up to the my 12 bolt flange.

Requires a spacer but it'll bolt right up. Also 2wd s-10 rear disks work on a-body 10-12 bolts.

Okay where would i get the spacer from or would I need to make one up? Also what year S10 are you speaking of, and is there anything that I will need to modify on them?

The spacer is needed with s-10 and ls1 rear disc swaps on to 10-12 bolts. I'm abit frugal and just used washers that I mic out to the exact thickness. I have some pics of my swap on my cardomain. Beware these brakes as far as I know will not work with c-clip eliminators. Donors are late 90's early 2000's s-10/blazer. 2wd rear disc are direct for swap but 4wd mounting plates and calipers (calipers are the same) will work when 2wd rotors are used.
I have 15" wheels on my car and they work fine.

I didnt know forsure. Good to know. S-10 rear disc will clear a 14in rim.
