Spark plugs too close to header

Im currently building a 79 malibu. mild 400 sbc, bought new jegs headers and normal length spark plugs seem too close to the header tubes on some cyls. does anybody run shorty plugs????? if so when do you get them. I just dont want to keep going through plug wires. thanks craig

you can bang the tube a bit and get wire protectors

ACCEL makes a "short" plug, I run them in my SB, I have 1966 327 Dbl. hump heads on my 355 and she runs great with them. Part # I use is 437S, The S is for short. I also use the insulating boots for added protection.

I read somewhere the NGK's are the same length as the Shorty Accel's & cheaper.

called the parts store and they have accels for 29.99 per plug. i will beat the headers for 240 bucks

CW1228, NO WAY,, Auto Zone had them that price for all 8, but had to order them, Advance Auto had them on the shelf for $30 for all 8. I would call them back and double check, heck they are only $2.95 each in the Summit catalog!!

yea just went to advanced auto. the old man had it all wrong. got a set for 30.00 sweet deal.

ac delco #-o makes a short plug too,the model is escaping me at the moment
