I'm about to install rim screws for the first time. I know I drill through the wheel but do I drill through the tire or mount the tire after drilling the wheel and let the screws work themselves in? thanks ahead of time.

mount the tire after the rims has been drilled, then aire the tire up to about 35-40# and thats it. it worked for me that way

Save your rims and DON'T DO IT!

Rim screws are not needed if you mount the tire properly (i.e dry, no lube).

I haven't ran them for close to 10 years now.

I agree mount tires dry and I use Hitack spray gasket once the tires are mounted before I put air in. Spray the bead area of the rim like bead lube as it helps seat the beads and when dry it holds them in place. Been doing this for more than 10 yrs and have cars running low 10s without screws its a trick I picked up from some dirt track guys that cant run beadlocks works extremely well....Lorne

thanks guys. I hear running beadlocks on a car with full slicks makes it more stable at the bigend. Any truth to that? Thanks again for the advise. I will be staying away from the screws.
