Pilot bushing for powerglide engine?

To make a long story short, I am swapping my engine and have just realized that my "new" sbc 350 crank does not have a hole drilled in it for a pilot bushing. Instead it just has a large shallow hole in the end. According to my brief research I have found that they machined the cranks this way on engines that were paired with powerglide transmissions. From my understanding there ARE places that manufacture a large bushing that I can press into the back and mount my t5 transmission up just as I had done on the old engine but I am afraid to buy the wrong part.

Does anyone have any experience or advice they can share about this? Here is a picture of what I am dealing with and a link to what I think may be my solution?

awesome. I will email the seller to verify. I appreciate it!\

Also, I know very little about the engine, the seller said it came out of a 70's truck. I'm hoping the engine isn't any older than that. I read the powerglide wasnt really used in vehicles after the early 70s.

Most Olds engines where never drilled for a pilot bearing. Could be why olds cutlass's had SBC engines when speced with a four speed. Very likely that chevy may have done that on some engines(never seen one). checking the cast number on the crank would tell you alot about the original app. Ck around for a bushing/roller brg for a olds engine(available) that fits in the end of the crank or have one machined to fit the crank and od of the input splines. Will need to drill out the crank to clear the input nose. That bushing still needs the hole in the rear of the crank. Used to extend the bushing for an adapter to the trans. Only for sure way to do it right and avoid future problems is have the crank drilled for the bushing. one one ebay still needs the hole

70's truck with a 350/powerglide???

Never seen that.

But that doesn't mean it didn't exist.

I also never seen a 350 without the crank drilled,

I have seen 283's and 348's though.

Go to http://www.mondellotwister.com/Transmission.htm and ck out the adapter bearing p/n pb-460 at the bottom of the page. Mostly used on Olds engines but will work on yours. Be aware that most Olds guys are less than pleased with the result mainly from it coming out(use lots of bearing locker). Pilots off the input splines and you will need to cut off the pilot at the end of the input shaft or just drill a relief hole in the end of the crank(better).

I'll have to search the casting numbers. I hope itll still work in my car...and I'd prefer not to have to buy an auto transmission for it.
