manual steering with big wheels

i was wondering if anyone one here is running 17 inch or larger wheels with a manual steering box from an s10 and how it handles and how hard it steers i wanna run larger wheels but dont want to put power steering back in it

The stops in the box are probably set for 14" or 15" tires, so there will be a LOT of tire rub at full lock.

I was planning on running like a 225/50r17 I just don't want the car to steer like a dump truck thanks for any help

If you had/have 225/60R15s on it now, there wouldn't be much difference in tire diameter that you would notice any difference.

225/60R15s = 25.63" diameter
225/50R17s = 25.86" diameter

How is the manual steering for street use. I have been going back in forth on what to do. I want the extra hp and weight savings. The only thing i have ever owned was a 80's chevy with manual steering and was not a big fan.

IMO there's little to no advantage to manual steering on a "big" wheel car. Yes, the point of manual steering is to lose weight, but it's generally only done a drag cars. Street cars or ones set up to handle are terrible to drive with big front tires. It also slows lap times & increases driver fatigue. We picked up 2 seconds when we finally put power steering in the GT1 car...
