I called those guys... Motor and transmission is $2050. Then, I still have to buy A/C compressor, Alternator and starter. Not really a better deal. Plus, they mix and match engines/trannies. So, I don't have the warm-fuzzies about that. :( I'd prefer a single unit pull-out, so I can inspect the vehicle, like you mentioned. But, they do have a warranty.... :?

sorry, i didn't realize you were getting the trans as well, my bad. that definately put it closer to 2k. most yards pull all the accesories and sell them seperate and getting all those will cost extra as well. 2500 for motor, trans, harness, and accesories is not unreasonable if that first place you mentioned was selling it for that.

Yep, that's for EVERYTHING. I wasn't sure if the '04 is fly-by-wire or uses a throttle cable, he said if it was, they'd throw in the pedal assembly and a wire harness extension for free (the yard that gave the $2500 quote).

I'm still looking around....

lets see.....before the lsx boom people would spend 3000 plus on an old school small block and get around 350 HP...add in a 500 trans..and all the extras...your way over $4000 for an old style v8 that gets 10 mpg...for 2500 plus a few add ons youll be at 350+ hp, OD trans...20 mpg...and it will run smooth........

x2! btw, it is drive by wire, and they interchange from 03-06. not a bad deal imo for everything, and if you're dad has dealt with them and knows them to be straight up, i'd say go for it. also, fyi, i dont hardly ever get a call for one of these motors, so i'm guessing they are pretty durable.

Is it easier to use the drive-by-wire with the pedal assembly, or convert it to cable?
