in the future(when i get back stateside) i plan to eventually swap to the speedway bolt on rear disks(with e-brake) for my station wagon, i also would like to swap over to the b-body fronts. first off, if the caprices came with 15" wheels, won't they fit in 15x6 front steel rally's??

second, would i need to change the proportioning valve, or could i just add that residual pressure valve?

also, whats a good disk/disk master cylinder i could go with... as well as a booster??

Hey Mike, You have to get rid of the stock proportioning valve, cant use that with discs, I'd try to find one off a blazer or caprice w/ 4 wheel discs. Many choices for master cylinders. 15" front rims "should" fit, but may not-because of the spindle and a-arm change over. HTH Stay safe

so i did a lot of reading yesterday and went through a bunch of old posts...

the stock MC and booster is OK

better yet is the dual diaphragm 9" booster, and if you upgrade to disk rear, you can use a disk/disk MC from a 79 vette apparently.

as for everything else, you will need a disk/disk prop valve.

this is from LS6 Tommy, and its all the parts you need for the 1LE swap

Here ya go:

Spindles and calipers are from 78-90 full size Caprice, Caddy, Delta 88, and Pontiac. Typically wagon, police or with HD towing package.

Brake calipers, (1)#18-4021, (1)#18-4020

Brake flex hoses, #BH36848

Brake caliper hose bolts, #483-205

Brake pads, # D52

Brake rotors, 1LE, #5994

Wheel bearings, 1LE inner, #BR6

Wheel bearings, 1LE outer, #BR3

Bearing seals, 1LE, #19753

Hub grease caps, 1LE, #13977

If you're tearing down the steering too, here's the part #s:

Tie rod, inner, 78 Malibu, #ES2034L

Tie rod, outer, 78 Malibu, #ES2033R

Centerlink, 78 Malibu, #DS909

Idler arm, 78 Malibu, #FA1013

Ball joint, lower, 78 Malibu, #FA3000

The tubular upper A-arms required should have ball joints already installed.

heres the links for the different arms:

also available from FREE YELLOW is the COMPLETE 1LE brake swap

i do wonder, he says that with his upper control arms, you need to ream the spindle for the larger ball joints, is there a ball joint that we can replace his with that wouldn't require the spindle to be reamed?? :-k :-k :-k

You can't use a disc/drum master on a disc/disc setup. It doesn't move enough volume of fluid to properly operate the rear calipers.
