Stopped by a friend of mine to drop off a powerglide to be gone over and he had it sitting in the yard. Another friend of his bought this rotating assembly that he was told had a forged steel crank. He tried to raise shift points a little and this was the result.

I've hit my cast crank with 7000+ numerous times with no problems. It must of had a flaw in it.

From the casting marks on the crank it looks to be forged to me. It has a wide casting mark. Its a boat anchor now, forged or otherwise.

My 468 has a cast crank, two bolt mains and stock 454 rods. Turn it 6500 every pass. Spun it 7100 on dyno.

I've turned cast cranks over 7000 in round track cars. I've broke cranks cast and steel. I had a scat crank break like that but in the back main a few years ago. What was the comp. ratio?

I think if i remember correctly 14 to 1 but not sure. I thought it was forged also but was told no. Not sure of any other damage.

i was cranking 7700-8000 with my all cast 454 on a 175 shot. I literally had people on standby with brooms and dustpans. I have only pushed on it like that a handfull of times. Not a good idea. But honestly, I dont think people give enough credit to stock parts. They can handle alot.
