will a v6 t350 transmission work?

Well Im in the middle of ordering a whack of parts for my build in the spring and Ive got a few questions.

The swap from the v6-v8 resulted in just that, motor only.
The 3 speed was kept in the car.
Driving it home was a little hairy on ice roads as that transmission basically acted as a stall, shifting way to high.

Can that transmission contribute to my build?
I dont mind tearing it out and having it rebuilt for the 350 motor but is it actually possible?

Otherwise I will scrap it and purchase one from PACE performance.

I was actually told to go with a th400 but Id like to stick with the th350

Thanks!

I guess the first question is what V6 was it? If it was the 4.3 V6 then yes it will bolt up and work fine as long as your not planing on making A crap full of horse power. if it was a 2.8 then no.

The v6 that was in it was just the 3.8 I believe.

The guy switched the motor to a 305 and kept the original transmission.

I dont plan on using it "as is" but I was curious to see if I could have it rebuilt
to be put to use when I stick my 350 in it.

I may be wrong but I don't think the 3.8 bell housing has the same bolt pattern as the SBC. Other wise it wont bolt up.

And thats exactly what I had thought.
I think some Buick 3.8's can work but I was positive that the chev wouldnt.

The reason I ask is I hate getting everything apart and waiting 6 weeks for flippin parts. Its nice to have everything ordered so I dont lose track of what im doing.

a 3.3 is a 267 with the 2 middle cylinders cut out

a chevy 3.8 is a 305 with the 2 middle cylinders cut out

a 4.3 is a 350 with the 2 middle cylinders cut out

so its the same bellhousing pattern, in fact your transmission is just fine in stock form for that 305.

yes you can have it built for more horsepower applications, probably cheaper than buying one out of a mail order catalog too.

Thats nice to hear, less money is good news.

The patterns the same but the motor Im planning on sticking in has a touch over 400hp.

Is it more trouble to have the thing rebuilt and enforced to handle the HP then say just buying an already done transmission?

I can get my hands on a well built th350 that will handle that power for around 1500 CDN

I would think it would be faster to just buy one already done
