I would go strait to a 4L80 because in its stock configuration it is pretty beefy transmission. I have read a lot of different good and bad stories about the 4L60, but for the money that you will spend on a 4L60 to beef it up, it may be better spent on a 4L80E with some upgrades. The 4L80E will fit in a g-body with slight clearancing of the floorboards with a hammer and some modifications to the transmission case to get it to fit. Here is some info on a 4L80 swap. http://gbodyforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=20570 .

Another option a a 200-4r that came in the grand nationals. These can be build to handle some power.

80's are the only way to go. I know several local guys here who have had nothing but good luck out of them, and they all make pretty big power and run really well without any issues. If you throw a 60E in a car with anything more than stock power, you might as well plan on rebuilding it once a year, no joke. Of course you're gonna have these guys that have ran 60's for a long time without problems, but they're honestly ticking time bombs with anything more than 350hp and sees the track often.

You mentioned 427 Carbed? I dont know alot about these trannys but they might require a computer to shift them, I'm not sure how you would do this with a carbed motor. Maybe some one thats more knowledgeable with these transmission could chime in. I'm interested also

yes, gonna need a stand alone controller, for the price your going spend on the trans, converter and controller...probly over 2000 for everything...overdrives are nice but the extra few mpg..is it really worth it.
