Washing Jute carpet padding

So has anyone done this? I'd like to put it in a washing machine to get it clean? I have some super thick stuff from a Buick, and I want to put it in the wagon, but I would like to wash it if I can. It doesn't stink, just dirty. Anyone?

I would wash it by hand and let it air dry. My gut tells me using a washer/dryer would be risky. It might disintegrate. You can usually get new jute from an interior shop for pretty cheap. . .

I may have to price it out. I has brown on it from the rust on the floorpans of the car it came in. I don't know if that matters, but new is always nice.

I would be afraid of it falling apart.

You don't want to do that, "IF" it don't fall apart it will smell soured even after you think you have it dry.

I wonder if I could use regular carpet padding? Like the stuff found at Lowes or Home Depot?

Jute padding can be bought online or at most upholstry shops. Thats what the factory uses. Or just get a new carpet kit. they are cheap.
