we are thinking about switching the converter in my car since we have to pull the motor out anyway (bad head gasket or cracked head). i was just wondering what some other guys were running and how you like them. thanks.

For a quality converter at a reasonable price I've had good luck with Redneck converters (EBay). For the price of a bottom-of-the-line brand name converter you get a lot more features like heavy duty internal components and an anti-balooning plate (stuff you pay extra for with a brand name converter).

Their efficiency seems to be good, too. Cheap performance converters often sacrifice efficiency in how they are designed.

I am not going to tell yuo these are the best converters in the world. There are certaily better ones available but you'll pay a lot more for them. But compared to a piece of junk TCI Street Fighter, they are MUCH better for same money. And for only a few bucks more they'll build you one custom for your application.

Look up fti converters. There in Deland fl and are very popular inThe southeast. Give them a call and you will talk to Greg and he will ask you a bunch of questions and build you a converter.

FTI makes top of line converters but you'll pay for it. I submitted a tech sheet on the combo we're currently trying. We wanted a tight 10" unit with an absolute max flash stall of 2800 for highway efficiency.
"Jeff, thank you for the inquiry regaurding our products. I can build you the converter that you need. I have reviewed your build sheet and would like to recomend the SR0082. It will flash about 3000. The cost for this converter is 535.00. It is a 9.5" billet converter with a anti ballooning plate and furnace welded fins. Give me a call at 1-866-726-8358

Thanks,
Greg"

Just giving an idea what your looking at price wise. Converters can make or break a combo so quality and efficiency is job #1. Yes, Redneck is out due to proprietary infringement from the Art Carr designed converters. JD
