temp sending unit help

ok, not totally g-body issue but, you guys are pretty smart so here goes... my 69 camaro has a factory temp gage..i need a sending unit that will work with the factory gage...but the catch is it needs to be 3/8 pipe size thread..the one it calls for is a unit that is 1/2 pipe thread..the patriot heads i have only have a 3/8 pipe thread on the head..as does my alum. intake..i have no dam idea why its only a 3/8..but it is..i know the obvious solution of re tapping the head to 1/2 and use the factory correct sending unit..but if i can just get a 3/8 unit that will work with the gage..i will be happy!.i went to napa and got one they suggested but it doesnt work..and yes the gage does work...thanks

the solid or sensing part of the unit wont go thru the adapter... ..its gonna have to be a sending unit that is 3/8..but thanks tho!

got this resolved..tried every 3/8 sending unit gm ever used ..none worked..found one in my junk drawer..works great!!!..go figure
