Summit trans. Quality??

Thinking of purchasing an aftermarket transmission this fall. While trying to save money I saw Summit has a th350 for under 700$$. One other possible selection is BTE transmissions. They have a unit for I think a humdred or so more The reason for there choice is , I know a guy who runs a Rail job among other 10 second street rods and he suggests BTE.
What have you guys heard of the Summit and Jegs transmissions? It will be going in a mid 12 sec el camino.(12 if I'm lucky)... Thanks

About a year and a half ago a customer we were building car for (67 Impala) said he had one that he intended to put in and never got to it. we put it in and it was slipping within a month. Engine wasn't any thing too impressive, 350 w/ 360 hp 2800 stall and a 4.10 gear. I'll never use one in my cars.

For something as simple to build as the TH350, I'd buy local. Easier if you a have a problem.

I forget what other manufacturer's I looked at but one point I did like is the New unit instead of rebuilt.

Coan is $895 for a TH350.

I don't think a "New" TH350 has been made since 1986. Most from 80-86 were the 350C w/lockup converter.
