s-10 steering box/pitman arm issues

ok i have the s-10 box..my stock pitman arm wont fit the box?..it appears my box's shaft is 1-3/16 and my p-arm is 1-1/16..the car is a 78 mailbu..anyone else have this issue? my search tells me my pitman arm should fit????..help..thanks

Did you happen to read the description of this item on that auction? The first clue is the word 'big' in the auction title.

"The "Big GM" Power Steering Box is commonly referred to as a 700 series Saginaw box. It was the dominant power steering box on almost all GM cars through 1977 & about 1/2 of all GM cars from 1978 to the early 90's. This box is distinct for its square, 4-bolt housing cover, as opposed to the round, ring-retained housing cover that the smaller GM power box has. This box features a 1 1/8"-32 spline pitman arm shaft."

The S10 box is not a 'big' steering box...

right..this was only to reference what my pitman arm looked like..all of the pitman arms i found online for the s-10 do not have a thru hole for the drag-link .. they have a stud on one end

it appears i have right box (7843962)..i just need the correct s-10 pitman arm?? the splines on this box are 1-1/4...my old box was the big box with the 1-1/8 splined shaft...

hey bowtie was the s-10 arm longer than the malibu arm??

mine came out of a 89 s10 used both gear and pitman arm worked great.

yup as long as you use the pitman from the box you should be all good..my box didnt have a pitman on it, i was told by whom i bought the box from to re-use my old one..my original one didnt fit..after trying to get the right one from where i got the box (one lost in the mail one sent that was the same wrong one i already had)..i bought one thru speedway.fit like a dream..problem solved but what a freakin nightmare!!

X2. I searched local U Pull It yards and picked up both Box and arm for $25. Fit great with no issues. Mine came out of 1st generation (boxy) S10 2WD.

sorry to bump a 5 year old thread but i have the same exact same problem whats the part # for the speed way arm??
