hello there peoples :!: had a question in regards to my power trunk release on my 87 ss monte.can i swap this to my 78 malibu? if so,what would be involved in this swap? :-k

Yes you can, You would need the solenoid from the trunk, then the wire that runs from the decklid to the glove box. And the pushbutton. You could run your own wires if you like, but if you have the doner car it is nicer to get all the factory wires and transplant them. The solenoid is grounded in the back, there is only power from the fusebox, to the button, then to the solenoid.

The solenoid must make good contact with the trunk steel, or it will not work.

Last I did it, the solenoid plug had a short ground wire that ran through the trunk along the hinge, and was attached to the body.
