Plans have changed quite a bit. I decided to get in on some of the texas and oklahoma 10.5 racing with it instead. I now have a iron block 5.3 with arp rod bolts and arp head studs. Ported 317 heads and the zo6 cam still. I bought a th350 with a ultra bell and break.
Instead of the gt45 ill be running a s480. The engine pics are a little old I have been doing all my chassis work at the moment.

I drilled and taped this for the feed line. 3/16

Here is a little trick I read in a book. Drill 1/2 holes in the lifter trays for high rpm engines, helps with oiling quite a bit.

That's a quick breakdown of my engine now like I said its on hold right now. I'm in process of notching the frame rails and doing a mini tub. Also layed my radiator down to make room to put the turbo right behind the grill.

i dont get on here allot, most of my internet is through my phone. the engine is still waiting a intake. but i put that aside for now and started doing all my chassis work. mini tubing it with wolf racecraft tubs, and a big frame notch. im going to try and run a 12" rim with 315 radials to start with.
im also laying my radiator down flat to put my turbo facing forward right behind the grill. its not to hard, and im still running the huge one i had in before.

the bottom of the bracket wich you cant see good is just a piece of aluminum angle iron that is bolted on using the factory holes that are in the bumper. the radiator sits in there and clamps from the bottom. and i made clamps to bolt in on top as well.

as far as the trunk area goes. i cut out all the factory trunk. i was going to brace between the frame rails anyway, so i cut the heavy *ss trunk floor out and will tin it when its done. i got to mount my ice box, battery, and fuel cell in there as well. the trunk actually provides a bit of structural support so i tacked in a bar running frame rail to frame rail.
the biggest pain in the *ss is getting the damn trunk hinges out. i had to cut them into 5 different pieces befor i could cut them strait off. after they are off its not to hard to take the factory tubs out. since its not a big tire car you dont need to take them off all the way up to the quarter pannel.

i used a sawzall to cut mine out. its thin enough it goes through like butter and you have one clean cut.
IMG_20110117_172003-1.jpg

while they are out you might as well notch it. im going pretty extreme on my notch to fit a 315. but ill have to bracing to support it.

im going to go in more than it is in the last pic. i just want to figure out where im going to brace it and make it work for mounting the ice and battery box on the passenger side, to compensate for my fat *ss in the driver seat lol

I will be running a 315 radial on a 12" rim. All the 275 and radial classes here requires stock frame rail location, notch only. They didn't say anything about "bending them" so here's what I did.

IMG_20110122_203012.jpg

Cut almost all my frame rail out all the way to the body mount. Before I cut my trunk out I tacked a bar frame rail to frame rail for a little support.
When both frame rails are cut out, I cut the support bar out, and took a big ratchet strap and moved the back half of my frame rail it. It worked awesome. Before you release the strap weld the bar back in. And you get another inch or so worth room by doing that.
IMG_20110122_222910.jpg

You can use 1/8th inch plate, or if your frame rails were not rusted out, you can reuse the original section. Mine were in good shape so I used my ones I cut out. They are not going to want to fit in to nicely, so a little beating with the hammer and a vice grips will do the job. Try to make them fit on the inside of the frame, this way you have a nice little joint on the bottom you can weld from the top. And the top part of the frame I folded over to get a better weld on it.

While I was doing all this, I decided to start making some upper control arm braces. Just used 1/8 plate. Made a template out of cardboard and cut them out. They maybe took 25min. I also made a cad file for them so if anyone wants them just let me know.
IMG_20110122_173212.jpg

They just weld right on in.
