I'm looking to change out the stock gears, in the 7.5 rear. I found 3.73 ring and pinion for $70. I want to get it! My car is street driven and highway driven. I don't drive my car everyday. When I do, most of the time, I love to play! My question, will this gear set up, be good for what I intend on using it for? My wife's brother suggest it would be. I just have to watch the rpms. Any thoughts? Appreciate the help!

I switched out my 3.08s for 3.73s in my 70 Nova and loved it! Thats why I'm doing the same to my Malibu. It's not bad on the hiway with a tall tire. I was running 275/60/15s.

I think it will put you around 3000 at 60 mph with a 26" tall tire. It will help the car feel quicker. My change was more dramatic, but I went from 2.73 to 3.73 and picked up just over a second with my Malibu 22 years ago. It went 15.20 to 14.12. Even right now, I have 4.10's and a 275/60-15 in my 70 Nova. I cruise about 3200 rpm at 60. IT's fun on short trips, but a little annoying to go anywhere far, fast.
