Ive been going crazy trying to find the right bracket for the 70 amp alternator that came in my 81. I guess the original that came with the car got tossed. I bought another one from the local yard and the 70 amp case is to large. It wont bolt in due to the diffference in size. I went to the local auto parts today and compared the 60+ amp alternator that was listed for an 81 Malibu with a 94 amp alternator from an 86 Monte Carlo. It looks the same except for the fan and serp pulley. The case looks the same. Wires in the same place. I bought the 94 amp but now Im wondering if its going to work OK. The more I look at it, it looks like a bolt in. Im using a March pulley kit anyway so the difference in pulleys is no big deal. Are there any other differences that I should be concerned about ?
