anyone else confused about why they made a six speed out of a 4 speed trans instead of using the.....uh....six speed trans? perhaps cause the 4l80e is stronger than the 6lX0e trans?

Yes, also the 6l90e is larger, and has the double overdrive. The 6l90e I think is also rated at like 550hp.
