my engine i have now has a pretty decent sized cam, so im going to throw a 2500 stall into the transmission. does that stall converter decrease gas mileage? also considering putting 3.73 into the rear end. how much do you think performance/fuel economy would be affected? thanks, kyle

Performance will likely go up to a point, gas mileage will go down unless you have o/d and a lockup converter. What size cam do you have? Other engine specs?

Honestly I have no idea about this engine. I bought it, I was told that is was rebuilt, and I can definitely tell there is a big cam in there. I have a Rochester carb, turbo 350 and headers and an electric fan. Not sure at all about pistons etc...

2.29 and 2.41 were very common with the V8 cars. Cars that came with V6s often got gears on the steeper end of the range since they didn't have the torque to pull those wicked tall ones.
