This is a pretty hideous job. The electrical was a disaster. I must have created 5 circuits out of thin air and they were poor too. Once the crap I installed was removed I can actually see the original harness. Not much too it.

The dash cap is not an easy installation. However, if you are willing to heat it until it behaves like a fabric then anything is possible. I dont mind the distorted look. It adds to the cars personality. Chaotic...like me.





Some trimming is required.








I would rather have some distortion from heat then large gaps.

Those harbor freight clamps like to come loose on there own.

Make sure you keep checking that they are tight.

At least that deformation will be on the side only you can see :lol:

I have all my original harness inside (a/c, etc.). It's a bear up around the steering column area... I forgot all about it until I pulled/reinstalled my dash recently.

The dash is a PITA. Slow going. None of it is going to be perfect. But it makes me happy. Im not sold on those brass washers. I need to put black ones on and see that.

Got the part number for the painless harness? My wagon needs rewired bad!

Like what you did with the dash cluster. Did you have the vent to the imediate left?

Any info on the iron head you swapped out? I'm still running stock might be interested
What did you go with for camshaft FT or HR?

I used the painless GM keyed 21 circuit harness part 10101. I do have a vent dead center. 2 More gauges will be there. Vacuum and nitrous pressure. The iron heads that are getting removed are the Merlin Oval port w/269cc intake runners. They were bowl blended. I think the springs are 180/420 and good to .650 lift. I never revved the car past 6200 so springs are light. Heads are HEAVY!!!

The cam is a HR I had custom ground 231/238 @ .50 w/.600 lift on a 111 LSA. I run solid lifters on a tight lash. Its quiet and smooth.
