I'm installing a heater with defrost in my '79......the September and October evening cruises are getting to me in my old age:

I wanted to try and use the factory defrost vents, so I fabbed up this 'plate' to connect the defrost ducts to...

I snaked the hoses through the opening in the door jamb......no way I was putting holes in my 'flamed' heater delete panel.

Here's a link to the album....

Awesome can't wait to see what the firewall looks like.

I am so sick of these huge waste of space heater ac boxes

Why wont someone make something for these cars besides
the just as big and stupid looking American Graffiti HEAT ONLY (fail) box

Agreed. According to Car Craft back in the 90's, G Body cars were supposed to be the next greatest thing, with all types of aftermarket support, just like the Fox body Mustangs. We got a few good parts, but man, it's taking a while. By the time we get all the good stuff, I'll be in my 50's, lol.

The firewall will look like it did before the install, the only difference under the hood will be the heater hoses.

NO........what you see under the dash is it. The only difference under the hood from this photo will be the heater hoses.

Damn I may have to consider this. My 1uz swap is cutting it close to the heater box...i can make it work, however I like that cleaner look.

Does it operate off the stock controls?

No......it comes with a three knob panel. I mounted mine under the dash, not crazy about the look, but........

I feel you on that

I just looked up the unit and saw the controls. Not hateful but just wouldn't look right in our cars

I wonder if there is a way to make it happen with the stock controls
