Looks like I have some planning to do. I couldn't get a full turn running 17x9.5 with any less than 5.875" to clear the suspension, but that was with the Belltech spindles. I'm pretty sure yours has to be sitting lower than stock with that profile tire and such a small gap.

What is the ground to frame distance? Iirc mines 6 or 7 " from ground to the lowest point on the engine xmemeber and you stated you have roughly 3" worth of drop spindles and springs

So update

Only issue I have been able to find is thanks to fully shoot OEM bump stops.. Is rubbing at full compression at the top of the fender.. Got a 5/16" spacer on the rear.. UN notched rear frame..
Needs a bath!

I check this thread every once in awhile for updates; planning for future 17 inch wheel swap.

80 Malibu, stock spindles, cut factory MCSS springs so it is lowered slightly. 16x8 w/4in.bs TT2's with 255/50/16's rubbed the top of the inner fenders when the suspension compressed. No issues with the same size in back. Those are now gone but I'm planning on going with 17x8 4.5 bs in the front with 245/45/17's; and 17x9.5 5in. bs in the rear with 275/40/17's. Hoping to not have to cut/roll the wheel well lips as I want to keep the wheel opening moldings. Rearend is a GN 8.5, alum. drums and longer ARP studs, so running a thin spacer to tweak bs is doable.
