If your at the switch and its even suspected bad, replace it. If you can adjust it to where it cranks in the full forward position and can still turn it back to the "accessory" position (all the way back past lock) your good to go. If the actuator rod is bent it will need to be straightened. But that's rare unless some one has been fooling with it that has no clue. Ive replaced buckets of these over the last 25yrs.
