Hello, I was just wondering what brand transmission shield fits the best on a 1980 Malibu (sbc 383 with powerglide transmission) with a stock floor and transmission tunnel?

Is it better to go with a transmission blanket for fitment purposes even though you have to get it recertified every two years?

Thanks

It's better than no protection. I would recommend an ultra bell and sfi approved flexplate. Though it comes back to your intentions with the car.

I have an sfi approved flexplate and an jw ultrabell. I need a shield for the transmission case.

I was just wondering if anyone on this forum uses a transmission case shield. If so, did you have any fitment issues?

Thanks

blanket works for me. I sell my old ones when they expire to stock car racers or 4x4 guys.

The blanket doesn't interfere with the shifter linkage? How often do they have to be renewed?

Thanks

The blanket is by far easier to clear the floor with. When I had mine I made a small bracket that went off the pan rail to keep the blanket off of the shift linkage. As far as recert, a shield needs it too. So no savings there. I had mine done once in 10 years. :-$
