G-Body suspension torque specs

Putting this up to help anyone looking for 'em :) It's out of my '78 Chevrolet passenger car repair manual, but the specs probably apply for most G-Bodies.
Disclaimer: If you break your bolts it's not my fault :p :lol:

Front Suspension
  • Ball joint stud nuts
  • Upper stud - 60 lb. ft.
  • Lower stud - 83 lb. ft.

  • Joint to upper arm (bolt-in service replacement)
  • 10 lb. ft.

  • Control arm pivot to frame
  • Upper - 46 lb. ft.
  • Lower (nut only) - 62 lb. ft.

  • Shock absorber
  • Upper end - 90 lb. in.
  • Lower end - 20 lb. ft.

  • Stabilizer bar
  • Link nuts - 150 lb. in.
  • Bracket bolts - 24 lb. ft.

  • Caliper bolts
  • 35 lb. ft.

Rear Suspension
  • Upper control arm
  • Front bushing nut - 70 lb. ft.
  • Rear bushing nut - 73 lb. ft.
  • Front bushing bolt - 70 lb. ft.
  • Rear bushing bolt - 80 lb. ft.

  • Lower control arm
  • Front bushing nut - 70 lb. ft.
  • Rear bushing nut - blank (70-73 lb. ft.???)
  • Front bushing bolt - 70 lb. ft.
  • Rear bushing bolt - 73 lb. ft.

  • Shock absorber
  • Lower nut - 62 lb. ft.
  • Upper nut - 12 lb. ft.
  • Upper bolt - 20 lb. ft.

  • Pinion nose bumper
  • 8 lb. ft.

  • Stabilizer mounting bracket to control arm
  • 35 lb. ft.

Good job doob! Those pretty much match what I have in my books dead nuts.

Note: Those specs are for factory components. Some aftermarket parts will require different torque specs.

I would add that all the A-arm & rear suspension hardware should be torqued with the car on the ground, or at least with the tires at ride height, unless you have Delalum bushings or spherical bearings.

85 lbs/ft.
