After going to the yards today I came across a torker II intake sitting in an olds with a sbc in it. Bought it for $40 which I think was a deal. Now concerning the question at hand.

I used the Edelbrock Performer initially cause it was available, and it matched my 2000 stall and summit .442/.465 cam, which was more geared for torque and street driving. But now, my new choice of camshaft and stall has moved my rpm range up and now has me considering this new Torker II intake. With the 700r4's gear, torque converter, and 3.73 gears, the motor is going to spin up in the rpms pretty damn fast....in theory. So which should I go with, the Performer or the Torker II? Here are the new specs of my build:

Engine
-Standard bore 350
-Forged crank, 2 bolt mains
-9.2:1 CR
-Voodoo 60103 cam, .489/.504 lift, 227/233 duration @ .050
-882 heads, ported, 2.02/1.60 valves, flow better than vortecs
-1.5 stamped rockers (possibly 1.6 rockers later)
-Edelbrock 1406 600cfm carb (have 750cfm carter and BG as well)

Drivetrain
- 1985 700r4 fully built
- Dacco Performance Converter 2300-2500 stall
-1986 monte ss rear end, 3.73 auburn posi

Because these two intakes in the poll are the ones I have. If someone offers, I'd be willing to trade both for an rpm air gap.

any particular reason? Looking for explanation cause I'm learning how to match up the cam, converter, and other factors up with a choice of intake. Would you say that most of my setup is matched?

The voodoo cam has an rpm range of 1800-6200 and the torker works from 2500-6500 and the performer works from idle to 5500. So the new cam will work better with the torker and the stall is already in the range of when the cam is starting to work plus the 373 gears will need the extra rpm aswell. You may find the 600 carb is too small.
I hope this helps you a bit better.

If you're gonna use what you have. I agree ^^^ use the Torker II @2500-6500rpm. The Performer's upper rpm range Idle-5500rpm isn't high enough for that Cam. The RPM style intake's 1500-6500rpm range would be best.
Use the 750cfm Carb also.

I was thinking while bowtie was posting. :D

I read a seperate thread somewhere that with a single plane intake, you need less carb while with a dual plane you need more carb. I'm wondering about the 750cfm carb just because my old man runs a 750 demon on his 440 Dodge Dart, and that thing is making 650hp/700lb naturally aspirated. This just leaves me to question why a milder sbc would need that much carb. I'm not being a smartass, I'm just young and wanting to learn more and more as I go on with the hobby.

I put an ad on craigslist to see if anyone would be willing to trade a performer rpm or air gap for both my performer and torker intake. If not, I'll use the torker intake.

The 750 demon is equal to a 850 holley, as that is what i was told by the tech dept at demon and also a very reputable engine builder in my area.

What type of usage does the car see? Street 100%? Strip 100%? Some combination thereof? Although the Torker is a single plane, it's a low rise style that really doesn't perform that well in high rpms. The Performer is a more modern design that will have much better torque under the curve-especially with a 227* cam that is all done at 5500 for the most part.
