It's a remade Mustang transmission. They've had those since early 2000's IIRC. Probably just updated the synchros, hardened some gears and made a different tailshaft to accept a mechanical speedo.

don't forget that they also shift smooth and fit our cars. Chris

I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I'd love an overdrive for my car, Just saying that basic trans has been out for a few years and they repurposed it for use in older cars.

the same is true with the Tremecs of the early 90s. They were a Jeep replacement transmission that was eventually used in Mustangs. It was not for a few more years that the case was modified to work with GM cars and a different input shaft was made.

Intersted in the trade in option. I took my Malibu out today for 30 minutes. Still love it. Still shifts nice and clean. Throwout bearing does make a noise though at lower RPM now. Wonder if the cold has anything to do with it.
