Purchased some cheap sheet metal from Lowes. Made a template out of cardboard. Transfer to sheet metal. Cut to desired size.

Mark for gauges. Cut out with dremel.

Clean it, prep it, and paint it your favorite color.

Image

Make sure everything fits and looks just the way you like it.

Image

Wire it in and screw it in place. Take it for a drive, its better then factory and looks sorta cool too.

Tubage,
I had to cut the crossmember to make the 454 fit and give me enough angle for the TKO and driveshaft pinion angles.
I used a sawzall and took it a local welder. Works just fine.

Thanks Jeff. How much clearance would you say you have now? Chris

I can rock the engine back to a fairly incredible angle. As a matter of fact I have used a floor jack to 'force' the engine to rock back as I have the solid mounts and they dont allow for the motor to move enough. I used a fairly dramatic angle to get the tranny to line up real easy. Not sure it was very good for the motor mounts, but I no longer care and do what needs to be done to make my car work.
If you look at my cluttered photo you can see the jack holding up the engine under the balancer and the oil pan and how it fits in the notched crossmember. There is more than 1" of additional clearance if I needed it.

Looks like all my pics have been killed off by Charter.
I will need to spend some time fixing everything again now that I have a new internet provider.

Still running. Turning 12.20s on street tires at 116mph.
Still trying to get my pics sorted out so I can get this thread back to the way it was.

I love beating this transmission.

I saw that a couple weeks ago... I want it, I want it, I want it, I want it, I want it, I want it, I want it.
But how much? I'm so lazy and don't like to pick up the phone to call them to ask just one question.

Cool :D I like it.

I did a little looking, had to do a double take because I know I hadn't seen this, or asked about it  $1400 for just the trans (likely just the RS400, probably +$700 for the RS600) is very tempting.
http://www.pro-touring.com/showthread.p ... post756432

If you figure $1400 for the RS400, then add $900 to make it a 'PerfectFit' kit, makes you wonder if you could source some of the parts yourself (i.e. crossmember, driveshaft, etc... at least doing the driveshaft/clutch yourself) and come out paying quite a bit less.
