Im running a 355sbc 435hp 4-10 gears 2800 stall th350 and want to install a 2004r trans. and not sure if I want to go lockup convertor or non lockup..What would rpm differences be at 65-70 MPH? And how much easier is it to go non lock up? Its a weekend car that I plan to drag a couple times a month..Also I love my Hurst quarter stick shifter what would be similar for the OD trans ?

Hurst #316 0030 is a 4-speed 1/4 Stick but, no longer made.
B&M Pro Stick is same as 1/4 Stick but, has changeable Gates Plates that allow it to work with 2, 3 or 4 speed Trans. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BMM-80702/

B&M Pro Stick 4-speed Gate Plate >> http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BMM-80712/ if your Hurst 1/4 Stick Gate looks like this it 'may' 'possibly' work. I'm sure B&M wont tell you if it'll work in the Hurst. B&M quit making "Hurst" 4-speed Auto shifters after they purchased Hurst.

Could also use the B&M 4-speed Gate Plate as a Detent Pattern for a 1/4 Stick Plate.

RPMs usually drop 2-300 max, but you won't have any RPM change as you would with an unlocked converter (RPM would stay constant at whatever speed).

I have a lock-up converter in my 700R4, But it only locks-up in 4th gear (overdrive).

If you're more concerned with Racing 1/4mi time go with a Non-Lockup TC.
Non-Lockup TC is much more efficient, lower slip % up top than a Lockup TC running unlocked. With the 2004R you wouldn't use 4th/OD when Racing, only 1st, 2nd & 3rd with TCC unlocked unless you use a Multi 3, 5 or 7 Disc Clutch such as Precision's Vigilante TC. Stock style Lockup Clutches can't handle WOT Lockups.
A Lockup TC will give 'slightly' better MPG while cruising with the lower rpm as stated above.

Some of the guys in the TurboBuick crowd get good 1/4's with LC by forcing it into lockup at WOT. No slip at all. They use PTC converters to handle the power.
