so,a while back i picked up a dipstick&tube for my 200r4 from a member on here and between the time i blasted the tube, painted it,got a new cup seal for it from the dealer,i lost the stick itself.so i called the dealer and they had one sent it to the shop.i'm looking at it today and the top has a red plastic ring and the oe one from the late 80's was just a red bent metal thing.on top.i don't know if the new one from the dealer is the same length or not as the old one.the dealer says it is in fact the indicator for a 87 monte ss.what should i do?do i toss the new one out and try and find a used oe one? i just don't want any troubles with fluid levels.

You should get measurements on the tube, also, just in case you don't have the right tube but you have the right stick.
