I need to replace front upper/lower control arm bushings/ball joints on 80 Malibu 229V6 with a/c.
Considering 2" spindle drop and reuse stock arms, also drop rear 1". Front tires are 235-45/17 on 8" Torque-Thrust wheels, rears 245-45/17.
Also, how do I drop rear 1"?
Car will be street use only.
Does the drop make things like types of shocks or other components a factor?
Told can buy control arm assemblies with bushings/joints already installed for nearly same money when bushing/joints pressing machine-shop cost is factored in but have not found any for my year/model.
Can you suspension gurus help me make decision on spindle drop? I think I would like the look/profile of the car with a drop if not too much of a hastle. I'm told some 2" drop spindles made back several years ago were better than others as far as geometry, etc. Are all companies about the same now?
