Looking at possibly converting to E85 on my Malibu build. What are your thoughts on the setup here?

468cu BBC
13.5 CR
685in / 691ex roller cam
Dart intake
GM Perf aluminum heads mild port work
2in primary 3.5in headers
TH400 5500 stall
456 gear 28" 10.5 slick or DR
Demon 850 carb dialed in for this motor / altitude
A1000 pump with -10 line tank to fuel log

There are 2 stations that sell E85 here, there were 3 but 1 stopped carrying it. My fear is that "what if E85 dries up here". There's a station about 15 miles from me, on the way in to town so its fairly convenient.

Here's where the delima comees in. I bought this engine setup as a turn key deal, it was in a malibu running the exact same setup I plan on running. It came "Carb to pan / flex plate to balancer. Everything is just as he had it, Jetting / timing all that... its ready to run high 9's, low 10's as it did in his car. I also already have my 15gl fuel cell so I'm worried that wont be enough if I'm playing around on the street at all. Thats an easy fix though, I'll just exchange it for a larger tank.

Since KCIR closed, I'll be racing at Topeka - Heartland Park but thats maybe 1 time a month and I want to drive this car more than that!!!!!

$15.00 pr gal or more for C12 or 2.89 per gal for E85 x2, E85 looks dam good if it will support this CR.

Thoughts?

High compression race motor... sounds like E85 to me if all tunes well. If they stop carrying E85, put a gas carb on ;)

You live in the heartland, I wouldn't worry about E-85 drying up here. Bought my first 15 gallons of "race fuel" this week. 2.79 a gallon dancin_banana.gif .
