im going to the junk yard to get a dash for my 1978 malibu. my question is what dash does not fit? just so i dont waiste my time. im looking at regals and el caminos to pull a dash from. thanks!!

any dash from either of those will work. also the dash from a monte or a cutlass or olds will work too. as long as they are g bodys not a big b body dash.

You know what I saw on ebay that was interesting.Somebody had a dash from a 80's camaro in a malibu wagon and it looked good.Not sure what they had to do to mount the thing but the overall width looked like a perfect match with no modifications to the dash.I know how hard it is to find a good dash,so that might be something to think about.The camaro dashes are way easier to find and in my opinion is a nice looking dash and looked good in this car.By the way,they did use the console from the camaro too,not sure if a monte console would look as good against the camaro dash.
They are good looking, and make for a much sportier look imo, especially when combined with the F-Body console. I think it gives much more of a cockpit feeling.
You can also just do a Camaro console with the El Camino/Malibu dash. Thats what I did I've done a lot of customizing to it but it started as just that.
Its not the best picture by any means, but the console lines up perfectly with the base of the dash. Most people think it is stock, with a new shifter...non car people don't know what to think hahaha.
