Mike,
I know this is an old post, but no one seemed to answer. What happens over time, the vent windows not being used frequently, the pivot rod becomes rusty and tends to seize. When trying to open the windows after prolonged inactivity, the rod breaks away from the window frame.

Your two alternatives are:
*Find and replace the vent window assemblies.

* remove the vent window assemblies, make sure that they're laid out at the proper angle, and MIG or TIG weld the rod back to the window frame.
It takes extreme care, but it's doable.

Many of us have encountered this problem before...myself included. ;)
