Does anyone know if a 70s Camaro steering column will work in a Malibu?? My 79 is a 4-speed, but has an auto column in it now. I'd like to get at least a floor shift, finding a stick column is like finding hen's teeth. There is a Camaro in a local yard, column is barely bolted in, like to get it if it will work.

If that one won't, is there another year or car that would??

I don't think so. The firewall angle is different. I got a stick column for under $100.00 on Ebay & Randy Johnson rebuilt it for me. He sells complete columns, too.

Randy doesn't do columns anymore; he sold all of his stock.

Thanks for the updated info!

Bringing back an old post. I tried the email for Randy & it came back undeliverable. Wondering if anyone else know anyone/anyplace to get parts to convert an 86 auto column to one to use with a manual trans. Yeah I know that that I can use the auto column, but want to convert it.

Thanks,
Scot

do you just want to change out the part that holds the shifter on the column so there's no hole to be seen or is there more to it?i only ask because i don't know the objective is with the swap.i use a guy from nh at work for any column work.he's real fast and very good at rebuilding them.
