I found a rear on Craigslist from an 85 Olds 442. Its an 8.5 posi with 3.73 gears. The guy says its still in the car, car still has stock engine. Said come on down and drive it. If I like it, he'll cut it out of the car. $1400.00. He said it comes with aluminum brake drums and the driveshaft. Is this a good price? I wanna replace the stock 7.5 rear in my Malibu.

You would be close to buying a bolt in 9" for that.

Take a look in parts - ( Any interest in a new QP 9" rear?)

Yes, I was actually looking into the QP 9 inch rear once he gave me that price. I did come across a a grand national rear for 1500 and a Regal T type rear for 1200. So I guess thats what these things are going for these days. I did try to look in the parts section of the forum, it wouldnt let me. Keeps telling me I dont have access to it.

If you signed in it should have let you in - here is the add

I have a new QP rear, 4.56 gear, spool, 31 spline axles and drum brakes. QP has this setup listed at $1570. I'm thinking $1200. It is stock wide G-body rear.
Has been bolted in my car but I have not even added fluid.
My twin turbo BBC isn't going to play nice with this so I am going to upgrade before I even use it.
