I have a 383 stroker in my malibu that is built fairly better than stock, steel crank forged pistons and eagle rods, 373 gears and 3000 stall, on 275 mt drag radials.
I run mid 12's and am trying to tune the suspension better to get it low 12's or 11.99 on engine alone but I would like to for now also to mount a bottle and use 100 to 150 shot for grudge racing to get into the 11's easy.

I don't want to blow my engine because this is also a street car (strip car on occasion's for fun)

Got any advice for a newbie to n2o ?

How do you plan on "fueling" the nitrous?

X2 on what blue knight said Just my .02 I would go with electric fuel pump, if on a plate one electirc pump should be sufficient. 150 shot would be the max I would put on it. A good fuel pressure regulator you DO NOT want to be to lean while on the spray.

On the suspension part what are your 60fts now. Is their more left their? What heads are you running and your cam choice. Weight reduction is something to look at.

You need "running" fuel pressure with a kit. Most mechanical pumps have enough volume, but not always enough pressure. Spend $ and save some tuning headaches. Put a fuel pressure gauge in/on your car. Even on motor, you may be suprised at what the gauge tells you. A blue pump, installed as per instructions with a -6 line should keep everything happy which ever way you decide to go. Expect to spend at least $100 for a gauge and the necessary fittings to mount it. Blue pumps are serviceable forever, so shop around, they can be had for reasonable $. Regulator, buy new. IMHO a 12-803 is money well spent. Get a 12-810 while you are at it.(all Holley numbers) These parts will all work weather or not you ever spray your ride. Tuning is a slow process. When you have it "right" on motor, that's when you can/should add a plate. I have always felt that N20 is like pancake syrup. It takes good things and makes them better.
