I'm probably the only guy to dyno a 229...

Had the beast dyno'd the other day at Absolute. Stock is rated 110/170 flywheel...dyno'd 107/153 at the wheels...not bad. The primary use of the dyno was to baseline the car before I made the headers. Since I may not have them done in time to hit the track prior to winter.

There's a guy near here that races a couple Malibu's in NHRA or IHRA stock I'm sure he's Dyno'd a V6 because he had ran them in the past.

after headers dyno...

Somewhat disappointed, but also somewhat expected with a stock cam (.358/.380) & stock carb & air cleaner. Made about 1whp/3wtq peak vs. peak yet with solid gains down low. "flipped" the air cleaner lid & made solid gains (bright red line) across the board. She is begging for more air...

Keep us updated when you do. Just rebuilt a 229, and I hear with a different cam it can really wake these little motors up.
You wouldn't happen to be able to put up a picture of how the Power steering pump bolts up would ya?
I rebuilt the dang engine, and got it running good, but i look at the pile of brackets, nuts, and bolts for the power steering and so far I've just walked away, lol.
