Re: Anyone try putting a 2.8, 3.1, or 3.4 60Deg v6 in a gbod
i'm sure you could make it work, AFAIK no one has. Too much work for such a small engine. Why not put a 3.8L and T5 combo from a Camaro in there? Would be much easier.

The lower ends on the 2.8 ect are weak,, would not stand up to any pushing,,, and those 60 deg V-6`s are a pain in the butt to install cam bearings,,, matty man

I like this idea. The camaro 3.8? with t5 or even auto. This is a port injected aluminum headed setup, right? Seems like it would work fine with 18+ mpg once a person got the computer/wire harness figured out. Why not? I'll get I could find the 3.8L from 93-02 camaro fairly cheap with all the accessories included. From that point it would just be sorting out the wire harness, return fuel line, and fabbing some mounts. How would this engine handle 8-10 lbs of boost from a turbo? That might increase the power to a reasonable level. 300 hp or so.

Im not sure about the Camaro's with the V6 but if you were to get a 60* V6 out of a FWD car. The intakes have the throttle body on the back side of the engine so your inake air would be at the firewall. Ive supposedly heard there is an intake that fits the popular 3.8's GM has used all throughout the 90's and 00's but it was never elaborated on where I read it. It would be kind of cool to put a supercharged 3.8 out of a newer GM and make it work though. There are companies that make an adapter to swap in a RWD transmission.

You could try using the Gen 1 2.8 or 3.1 V6 engines with a T5 out of a mid to late '80s Camaro or Firebird, which would be set up for a rear wheel drive car.
The supercharged 3.8 Buick V6 from the 1990s GM FWD cars would make an interesting swap. I'm not sure about mounting the FWD engine in a RWD application, but you might be able to possibly use mounts from a late '90s Camaro or Firebird with the 3.8 V6 option. You might even be able to use the 3.8 V6 with a 5 speed from the F body car, and install the supercharger from the FWD car on the RWD engine-although once again, I'm not sure if that will work. Then you'd have the problem of what PCM to use, and possible reprogramming of the PCM to allow for the swap. The idea of a supercharged 240HP V6 with a 5 speed in a G body sure is interesting though.
