i am looking to buy this 82 malibu wagon it needs a total restoration it has a v8 in it but i want to put in a 4.3L v6 for the fuel effieciant and the 50/50 weight ratio and was wondering if it s worth it or just stay with a v8 whichi dont want but i have never done a sawp before and need all the info on swapping in a 4.3 v6 and what all i need which year engine tranny fuel injection etc.

The 4.3 is basiclly a SBC with 2 cylinders missing from the center. Alot of pieces from a SB fit a 4.3 and viceversa trans should bolt right up to a 4.3 however you may need to reposition the frame mounts.

IMHO if it has a small block in it I wouldn't swap it out for a V-6. If you go through the small block, and dont get carried away with performance mods, and be easy with the right foot you will be fine.
